Amazon Books

Get it Now

Every diet you tried gave you a number to stay under.

Not one of them ever gave you a number to reach.

The Daily Floor is a book about why that is the wrong direction, what your body is actually asking for every day, and what to do on the day it does not go well.  The Daily Floor is out now, on Kindle, paperback and hardcover

The Argument

A ceiling can only be exceeded. Stay below it and nothing happens. Cross it and you have failed. So every plan you ever ran had two possible outcomes, neutral or guilty, and eventually it produced the guilty one, because everybody lives a normal life containing birthdays and bad weeks and nights when there is something in the house.

Then came the sentence. I blew it. And that sentence, not the food, cost you the next four days.

A floor works the other way. It cannot be exceeded. It can be met, or not met yet, and not yet is something you can still do something about at four in the afternoon.

What's Inside

Why the food that is easiest to reach was engineered to leave you hungry

The difference between full and fed, and why one of them lasts six hours

How to feed yourself properly on about three and a half hours of cooking a week

Why weight-loss drugs work for exactly as long as you keep paying for them

What to do in the twenty minutes after a meal you did not plan, which is the skill nobody teaches and the one that decides everything

Who it's For

This book is for you if you have spent years going on and off plans, you know every rule and trust none of them, and you would like to stop fighting your own body about food.

It is not the right book right now if you have an eating disorder or think you might. A book that tells you to track nutrients can be actively harmful in that situation, no matter how carefully it is written. Please talk to a doctor or a therapist who specializes in eating disorders first. In the United States, the National Eating Disorders Association operates a helpline and a screening tool.

It is also not medical advice, and the author is not a doctor or a dietitian, and says so early and often.

About the Author

Jay Juneau was told at thirty-five that he was obese and pre-diabetic. He declined the prescriptions, fixed it with food and movement, and held it for four years. Then a decade containing layoffs, a divorce and a family crisis took it back, and he spent six years knowing exactly how to fix it and not doing it.

He started again at forty-seven with a twenty minute walk.

He spent thirty years in technology, beginning in motion capture and character animation when the technology was still medical, and most of the rest of it shipping products. He is the founder of PlaySpace Interactive and of Coachie. He is not a doctor or a dietitian. The Daily Floor is his first book.

The App

Coachie

The book works with a pencil and the tables in the back. If you would rather the arithmetic was done for you, the author builds an app that does it. It reads your meals and shows you the handful of things you are actually short of.

On the App Store and Google Play as Coachie: Personal Coach & Chef.

Coaching

Working with a person

Behind the app there is a coaching platform, where you can work with an actual coach to set your baseline numbers and get advice until you are comfortable on your own. Some people need a few weeks of that and then never need it again, which is the right way to use it.
